You will use the latest signal processing, modelling and imaging technology and some of the most advanced high-performance computing facilities in the world to build high-resolution 3D seismic images & models of subsurface geology and rock properties for our clients.

What skills will you develop as a geophysicist?

Early in your career you can expect to develop expertise in:

  • Signal processing, modelling and imaging
  • Technical innovation, creative problem solving and critical thinking
  • Building and maintaining long-term client relationships through service excellence
  • Management of complex technical projects
  • Effective communication and collaboration with team members and clients
  • Cultural awareness through training & interaction with global clients and teams

Later in your career, you will have opportunities to develop leadership and management skills, publish papers and present at industry conferences

Most people who start with Viridien come from outside the earth sciences; we will provide all necessary training in geology and geophysics.

What we look for

This role is aimed at recent graduates and final-year students with a Bachelors, integrated or postgraduate Masters or PhD in Physics, Geophysics, or Mathematics, or in Earth Sciences, Natural Sciences or Engineering with significant physics content.

We’ll consider what you’ve learned from your course and projects, any part-time work or internships, and extracurricular activities or volunteering. If you are selected during the application process, you’ll have the opportunity to share:

  • Your ability to communicate technical concepts

Additional information

  • Start date: September 6th 2027 although we can be flexible around start date if a later start date is desired or necessary.
  • Location: We are located in Crawley, just south of London; well connected to the capital, the South Coast, and Gatwick Airport for international travel.
  • We welcome applications from outside the UK and international students studying in the UK; subject to eligibility we can provide visa sponsorship and relocation support
