Jessica

Training Consultant

I joined RINA as a Junior Training Consultant in 2020 having previously worked as a research assistant within Space and Defence training. I felt I could contribute to the company’s vision and the projects that had been completed were exciting and intriguing to read about. However, the most salient aspect of RINA that attracted me to the job were the company values aligning with my own.

I am determined and strive to complete high quality work and value the importance of collaboration between my co-workers. I want to continue developing my skills and knowledge and I could see how RINA would help support me with this.

I have worked upon a wide variety of projects while at RINA including Training Needs Analyses, Training Design and legislative compliance. I have found each project is different and I really enjoy the variety of work encountered as it enables me to be adaptive and apply innovative approaches to each new project.

I am currently in the process of pursuing a qualification in Human Factors, which explores human interaction with equipment and systems. Challenges and risks can manifest within complex systems and therefore it’s imperative to be able to have the foresight to prevent them in the development of these systems or having the creativity to develop a solution to a problem in an established system.

I am intrinsically drawn to problem solving as I find it both challenging and rewarding. Due to my background in Psychology, I am also interested in understanding people’s behaviour and therefore, the ways we can improve the safety of personnel while optimising the efficiency in a working environment and within training.

RINA’s culture is warm and friendly, and it is a pleasure to work with everyone in the company. I have been well supported throughout my time at RINA and the guidance offered by my co-workers has been invaluable. I am proud to say the company are also supporting me in my personal development in becoming a Human Factors specialist by offering opportunities to apply the knowledge I am learning. There is a good work-life balance due to the company’s smart working policy, which enables a flexible approach to working at home and in the office.
