Learning and Development

At HSBC we recognise that the talent and diversity of our people is the foundation of our success, so we are committed to helping you develop your personal and professional skills in order to bring out your strengths.

You’re the one in charge, but you’ll have plenty of support, including a placement manager and programme manager, as well as access to our HSBC University, which offers more than 20,000 courses to help you develop communication, leadership, presentation skills and more. In 2022, HSBC employees collectively completed 6.3m hours of training.

We want to help bring out your strengths.

You will be expected to complete some learning activities based on local regulatory requirements or the nature of your role, but you can also choose courses that are linked to your own interests or support your personal development.

You will have access to a mixture of formal and informal development opportunities, including on-the-job coaching and mentoring in addition to instructor-led workshops and e-learning.

From the outset, you will be able to develop your own professional networks with clients and colleagues around the world. You may also have the opportunity to develop your skills and gain experience in another country through one of our international assignments, which typically range in length from three months to three years.
