Jess

Technical Marketing Engineer

What are you working on at Keysight?

My first project involved working on launching Keysight's first Amazon eChannel platform in the Americas. As we continued to launch globally, I managed, optimised and transposed product content onto datasheets to increase sales volume. I’m also working on building a marketing campaign and online sales metric dashboard to measure the campaign's sales impact and integrating language and content localisation processes into Amazon so that we can maximise global sales.

If you could spend time at another Keysight location, where would you go and why?

I would like to visit Germany to learn more about the various eChannel platforms Keysight uses to increase online sales volume. This would give me a better understanding of how different countries operate in terms of product demand and the sales climate as it varies globally.

How does your role at Keysight complement your major and vice versa?

I can better understand the function of Keysight's products with an electrical engineering background as I have used many of the products we sell. With a technical communication concentration, I can use my knowledge of technical editing, marketing and information design to manage information which can be used for creative marketing purposes or data management.

What do you like best about working with your team?

I enjoy that my team members are from all over the world. It is fun to be able to connect with many individuals across the globe through communication technologies as I can learn from others with varying perspectives on marketing - a skill necessary to be successful in global sales. My team members are very motivating, helpful and understanding, always making me feel like I belong at Keysight.

What’s something you’ve learned while at Keysight?

Having an open and adaptable mindset is crucial to learning more about your strengths, weaknesses and interests. While on the job, I have learned how to communicate openly and constructively in a professional environment. Being successful starts with building a network of individuals who can help you get to where you want to be.

If you could give one piece of advice to future interns, what would it be?

Though starting an internship can be nerve-wracking, having a positive, confident attitude will bring you a long way. Learning when to ask questions is critical to integration within Keysight as you will find that those around you have a lot to provide. Make an effort to talk to other interns and maintain good relations with those in the company.

What has surprised you most about interning at Keysight?

It is extremely flexible. The ability to telecommute has enabled me to continue my internship even while in school. With a busy class schedule, my team always accommodates my studies and understands when I have midterms coming up. The amount of flexibility in work schedules, location and projects is beneficial for interning while in school.
