Our development programme consists of five modules and runs in parallel to your permanent job. The modules are designed to bring out your interpersonal and leadership skills, and complement the hands-on technical experience that you will gain in your role. 

We will also fully fund your academic qualification, the qualification you are enrolled on will be tailored to the role you will be doing, your academic level and personal ambitions. (We offer apprenticeships as well as other qualifications at various levels).

What you will be doing:

As a Trainee Planner you will report to the Planner/Senior Planner and assist in the development of detailed construction programmes and methodology. You may be required to assist with the provision of planning support to a number ongoing of ‘live’ projects, as experience is gained this will develop into the provision of planning support during the tendering stage.

  • Assist in the development of pre-construction and construction programmes, taking into account design and procurement
  • Gain an understanding of Project management, Logistics and Sequencing
  • Assist with the production of clear and concise statements describing the programme strategy and construction methodology
  • Develop an understanding of Preliminaries Assessment
  • Assist in the development of plant and temporary works requirements and schedules
  • Provide ongoing support to live construction projects including site visits and monitoring of progress
  • Collate/Assist/Support in the production of As-Built records
  • Become familiar with the Galliford Try BMS and Information Management systems
