We are looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to work within Crown Technology in the Ends & Seaming Development Team. You will be responsible for managing a range of development and technical support projects associated with the Seaming process used in metal packaging.

The role will include being involved in all aspects of the successful delivery of their project which may include practical hands on work, tool design, factory trial work, testing and data analysis report writing, presentations as well as project management.

Job requirements:

  • In order to succeed in this role, you will be educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and will have the ability and enthusiasm to get involved in all levels of engineering work from design to hands on practical work if required.
  • Strong CAD skills for engineering design and a good understanding of statistics in order to make scientific conclusions are both important skills for this role.
  • You will be self-motivated with a proactive approach to work and have the ability to communicate confidently at all levels within the business. You will be capable of working autonomously and as part of the team. You will possess excellent decision-making and engineering problem-solving skills with the ability to manage projects versus challenging deadlines.
  • A second European language is desirable for this role. Travel will be required mainly within the EU but also possible trips to the USA and Asia for short periods of time.
