This collaborative role between SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) is a two-year fixed term contract. This role will maximise the partnership between both organisations.
The successful candidate will be involved in supporting innovators, coordinating activities and workshops to help develop innovation projects and navigate SPEN's internal processes to ensure alignment with their business goals. The role will involve working with engineers and senior stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects.

Detailed role summary
Identify innovative companies and individuals that have the potential to deliver technologies that can address a diverse range of energy network challenges
Draft, critique and launch calls for innovation and calls to industry as well as deliver market research on behalf of Electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNOs)
Assess and validate proposed solutions prior to presenting to EIC partners
Work with senior engineers to carry out the due diligence required to support investment in technologies by energy industry
Facilitate small group workshops with EIC partners
Support the development of project plans that will ensure the smooth delivery of projects
Coordinate and support trials and project delivery
Proactively identify and manage issues and blockers to ensure the successful delivery of innovative solutions to the energy industry
Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes to generate efficiencies within the business
Provide one to one support for innovators, providing relevant resources, information and guidance
Facilitate the integration of innovation projects to business as usual
Understand innovation governance, restrictions, and opportunities
Provide innovator support, feedback, support signposting
Provide BAU transition support
Ensure policy compliance and drive continuous improvement through quality processes
Propose, plan, co-ordinate and lead innovation proposal activities including budgetary control, scheduling and logistical aspects
Review and audit of all project deliverables within and beyond the Project directions, including specifications, commercial indications of engineering specifications, compliance with technical standards, data validation, modelling tools etc. with the input of technical specialists where appropriate
Capture new learnings from the project to maximise the value of innovation into Business as Usual (BaU) and share with the key stakeholders in an efficient and timely manner
Drafting, reviewing and contributing to reports and papers in line with the NIA/NIC Guidance, to facilitate effective knowledge sharing and inform the industrial standards.
