Sanjeiv

Consultant

"The environment in which we train, implement, and deliver projects/workshops is extremely fast-paced."

Why did you apply to join Kaizen Institute?

On completion of my Undergraduate degree in Medical Engineering I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Management Consulting. This led me to do an MSc in Engineering Business Management at the University of Warwick. Following this, I spent a year working in a Management consulting firm, predominantly working with clients in the Healthcare Sector.

My reason for applying to Kaizen Institute was that it is a global company that works with organisations in many different sectors. I loved the idea of being able to work with clients in different industries!

What are the best and worst things about working here?

I work best under pressure and this environment gives me that. The environment in which we train, implement, and deliver projects/workshops is extremely fast-paced.

My current projects often require me to be working alone and even though this creates an element of isolation, the best thing for me by far has been the level of support given by Senior Colleagues. If I'm in doubt or in need of some advice about deliverables, I have always felt comfortable giving them a call at any time, which I believe is extremely valuable for a person at the beginning of their career.

My focus has always been to gain exposure, knowledge, and experience. I can safely say after working here for less than a year I am getting all 3 of those at an incredibly fast rate.

What do you actually do?

We work with clients to teach, train and implement Kaizen Methodologies in their organisations with the aim of improving their profits through small incremental, low-cost improvements. To give you a better understanding, one of my current projects involves me working with a client to introduce an effective way to undertake problem-solving throughout their organisation with the aim of reducing quality problems. I am also working with another client, helping them increase their Overall Equipment Efficiency with the aim of reducing the time their machines are down for and increasing their production capacity.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to apply?

Understand whether consulting is the environment you want to be in and whether it is where you see yourself forming a career path. If you find my very brief outlook interesting, then this Job could definitely be for you!
