Working at EES

What is it like working at EES?

Get exposure to hardware and software design.

Graduates and undergraduates get exposure to both hardware and software design and ‘hands on’ testing and development, providing a balance between desktop work in the office and practical work on our customer sites.

Our working day varies: sometimes we are in the office designing controls systems, utilising our software design packages Eplan and AutoCAD and using other tools to calculate equipment ratings and to select components. We spend a lot of time communicating our ideas with colleagues, customer and other stakeholders, either by Teams calls or face-to-face meetings during site visits.

We develop software for use in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays and other digital technologies.

During the development and test phase of our projects, we spend time in our laboratory or at our partner’s manufacturing facility. Here we use various instrumentation such as digital voltage meters and oscilloscopes to measure signals and perform analysis.

When commissioning equipment on site, our routine is a little different. Typically we will attend a safety meeting and assess the task in hand. Then we will undertake testing and commissioning activities, again using electrical instrumentation. You'll also follow technical documentation and procedures and interface with other engineers.

Recent under graduate and graduate projects?

One of our graduates travelled to Rotterdam to work on the control system for one of the biggest motors in Europe

We have an exciting project designing a control system for a UK nuclear power station. Graduate engineers had the opportunity to visit the site and were taken on an exclusive tour.

Our graduates have travelled to Italy and Croatia to work with suppliers of specialist equipment.

The graduates worked together to improve an important business process within EES, saving the company time and money.
