Centrica has a clear vision to be a leader in the decarbonised, decentralised energy system. The transition from fossil fuels to low carbon and renewable energy sources is one of the most pressing and complex challenges facing mankind, and Engineers are central to its success. We need committed, enthusiastic Engineers to help us in our journey. Our award winning Summer Internship programme will give you the opportunity to work in a real life environment on meaningful projects, and it will give us a chance to see the real you.
From day one you will be exposed to what it takes to be an Engineer in the evolving Energy Industry. With placements that can include Centrica Energy Assets, a brand new business unit looking to transform the UK’s energy landscape, or Centrica Storage Ltd, a traditional and long-standing gas production company that is looking to re-develop their operations to tackle the Energy Transition, you will get first-hand experience on what challenges face the UK’s goal of Net Zero by 2050.
As part of your Internship, you will receive knowledge and training on the fundamentals of being a Process Engineer. From developing simulations and optimising operations, to helping implement large-scale capital projects and ensuring best practice procedures are implemented across the company, you will be exposed to a wide range of technical problems that can face Engineers on a daily basis.
You will also get the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using your Process Engineering knowledge to collaborate and deliver an engineering project that will have an impact on Centrica’s drive to Net Zero. Potential projects can include helping develop our Solar and Battery portfolio or even helping to redevelop the UK’s largest Natural Gas storage site into the world’s first of a kind Hydrogen storage site.
As part of the Internship you will receive a Graduate Buddy who will help guide you through your time at Centrica and assist you with your future pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer.
