The world’s your oyster – the joys of being close to London
The downside of moving from Manchester to join Sondrel is that you are no longer in the great city of Manchester. Having grown up in Greater Manchester, I was anxious at the prospect of having to live so far away.
There are also a couple of upsides. The first, and most surprising for me, is the change of pace it brought to my daily routine. It gave me a fresh start and allowed me to, more easily, remove the parts of routine that were not helpful.
The second is that I am now close to London. So, after a disappointing morning at IKEA trying to replace my guitar-case-for-a-mousepad set up with a real desk, my housemate and I ventured into London. We decided to walk from Westminster to Tower Hill via the 8 bridges between those two points; stopping halfway to rest at one of twenty or so Wetherspoons within zone 1. Classic. The highlight of the trip was my housemate’s return journey from zone 1 to Watford that cost him £2.65 with an oyster card and rail card. Needless to say, he was chuffed.
