Creating the cars of tomorrow is a challenge around 40,000 passionate Jaguar Land Rover colleagues take on every day. The way cars are created and driven is changing. And we are leading that change. Our vision is for a cleaner, smarter, more connected world where autonomous, connected, electrified and shared vehicles will replace the environmentally impactful world of the internal combustion engine. Throughout our history we have always taken on the challenges of creating the most prestigious, sustainable and desirable cars.
The beautiful shapes, sweeping curves and luxurious styles of our vehicles would be nothing without the accuracy in the technical set up and attention to craftsmanship. As part of the Design Technical group, you’ll help to produce the flourishing finishes that grab attention wherever they’re seen, while working as part of one of our key teams: Surfacing, Studio Engineering or Cubing Engineering.
With ongoing support and opportunities to gain further skills, everything you do will help us imagine the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and keep us at the forefront of automotive design. Opportunities exist within;
As part of our Surfacing team you’ll create and deliver feasible A-class surface data that achieves the design intent. Input is taken from clay scans, package data, Computer Aided Design (CAD) concepts and hard points to create and release A-class geometry in support of engineering feasibility requirements and the final production release. It will be down to you to deliver best in class crafted optical quality solutions into new vehicle programmes. You’ll also be involved in complex negotiations with engineering, design, and the generation of concept schemes using state of the art CAD systems.
The Studio Engineering team is a team of highly skilled whole vehicle engineers who manage the critical interactions between Design, Engineering and Vehicle Attribute teams. You will support the Design team in delivering creative technical solutions to achieve the design intent, while working alongside the Designers throughout the full development phase. With your strong technical background and creative mindset, you’ll generate concept schemes using state of the art CAD systems.
In the Cubing team, you’ll deliver highly accurate, detailed physical 1:1 scale Data Control Models (DCM) within challenging time scales and budgets and manage the generation of a Virtual Model to support key business gateways. You’ll project manage the design, construction, delivery and reviews
for these properties. These models are the key support for quality data sign off, ahead of production tool release so a business and engineering-focused acumen is useful.
Excellence runs throughout our entire business and we expect you to be the same. You’ll need a strong technical background, creative mind-set, good spatial awareness and have the confidence to get involved in complex negotiations with engineering and design.
For Surfacing, Studio Engineering and Cubing Engineering you’ll need to be on track for a Design or Engineering degree at 2:2 level or higher.
