As a design consultancy we work on a wide range of projects for many different customers, from WiFi routers operating in rural Africa to complex modern Radar and communication systems.

Joining the team as a Placement Design Engineer, you will work on a variety of projects that will spark your imagination and challenge you to think creatively. You will be working collaboratively within a young, dynamic and encouraging team and your ideas and solutions will make an impact on real projects right away. In return we will provide you with support, tools and training along the way as you kick start your career.
The Placement Design Engineer role will involve working closely with both colleagues and customers on a wide range of projects. You will play an important part in developing creative technical solutions for cutting edge products and manufacturing processes by contributing your expertise in electronic, mechanical or software engineering. Your role may range from creating a novel wireless product, developing high- performance radar to designing an innovative medical device. Our customers expect us to work at the forefront of technology and you will be primed to help take ideas from concept to market.
The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate studying for a degree in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, computer science, maths or related subjects.
You will ideally be working to a 2:1 or higher and have some experience working in industry.
It is likely that you will enjoy taking things part, building models or understanding how things work. Our team is deeply curious and we’ll be looking for those who are intuitively problem solvers. You will be committed to learning, willing to challenge and able to communicate your ideas.
You may have an interest in Radio Frequency, Communication Systems, Digital Signal Processing, embedded firmware and product design or just be keen to learn about these areas. If successful, you will be required to prove eligibility to work in the UK and pass basic security checks.
Slipstream Design offers a competitive starting salary of £18,000—£20,000 depending on experience and specialist discipline. Salaries are reviewed annually.
