At Tony Gee, we believe engineering is more than just designing infrastructure—it’s about creating lasting, positive change in the communities we serve. Our Social Value approach is embedded in everything we do, from the way we design projects to how we support our people and engage with the wider world.
Social Value refers to the additional benefit created through our work that goes beyond the technical delivery of a project. It’s about reducing inequality, improving wellbeing, and leaving a legacy that matters. Whether it’s enhancing infrastructure, promoting sustainability, or supporting local communities, we aim to make a meaningful difference.
Tony Gee’s Social Value Policy focuses on:
Since 2016, Tony Gee has partnered with Bridges to Prosperity, building pedestrian bridges in rural Africa that connect thousands to education, healthcare, and markets. Our engineers fundraise, travel, and build alongside local communities—bringing engineering to life in the most meaningful way.
In collaboration with Dream Networks, Tony Gee engineers have helped children design and build sustainable playgrounds in underserved communities. We supported a school in Birmingham and Manchester to turn their dream playgrounds into reality. From clay models to CAD plans, these projects empowered the children and fostered creativity, sustainability, and joy.
This competition, hosted with Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and universities, challenges students and early-career engineers to design concrete cubes that are both strong and low in embodied carbon. Tony Gee teams have consistently excelled, using innovative materials and promoting sustainable construction practices.
Tony Gee’s STEM Ambassador group plays a vital role in inspiring the next generation of engineers. Our volunteers regularly attend career fairs, deliver workshops, and run interactive activities like the shaking table challenge, where students test model towers against simulated earthquakes.
These engagements help young people understand engineering in a fun, hands-on way—sparking curiosity and building confidence in STEM subjects.
Each Tony Gee office supports a local charity, chosen by staff to reflect community needs. From fundraising for RedR UK, which trains aid workers responding to global disasters, to hands-on volunteering with schools and community groups.
From building log storage for Earthworks, a charity that supports people with learning disabilities, in St Albans to painting communal areas of a Action For Children residential home in Stonehouse, our colleagues are passionate about making a difference locally.
Every Tony Gee office has a tailored Social Value Plan, identifying key stakeholders and schools to work with.
Our project teams also develop bespoke plans to meet client and community expectations.
If you're passionate about engineering and want to be part of a company that values people, planet, and purpose—Tony Gee is the place for you.
