About the Role
Ward and Burke are actively recruiting Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our site team on water industry projects based around Manchester and various locations across North West of England. The successful candidate will carry out electrical design, prepare and manage electrical installations, fault find and commission on various projects.
This position requires an individual that is comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and happy to learn on the job. It is essential the individual possesses an excellent problem-solving skill along with organisational and communication skills.
You will have ambitions to further your engineering and management skills to develop into a lead electrical engineer and manage all project electrical activities on your own. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Ward and Burke as we grow our Electrical Engineering department in the UK.
Responsibilities
Design electrical installation conforming to IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations, WIMES and client engineering specifications. You will use AMTECH to model electrical installations.
Attend electrical site walkarounds to understand the level of electrical install required for a particular solution, identify electrical scope of works associated and then develop the electrical design for client engineering review.
Support the onsite electrical install team with design queries. You will spend time carrying out some electrical install work to gain a thorough understanding of how jobs are installed so you can better design our jobs.
Liaise with panel manufacturers and software integrators to develop electrical panels required for projects.
Development of Control Philosophies for process control software development.
Participate in the production of Risk Assessment's, Method Statements and Process Impact Plans.
Developing Single Line Diagrams, Block Cable Diagrams and Loop Diagrams.
Developing Functional Design Specifications and User Requirement Specifications.
Read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and document all self-created changes.
Adherence to Safety Health & Environmental policies and procedures and carry out all tasks in a safe and controlled manner. Thinking how can we carry out this job/design this job to avoid H&S risks?
Witness of factory & site acceptance testing for Machine Control Centre (MCC) panels.
Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales for electrical installations.
Specification and procurement of major items of electrical plant - Variable Speed Drives, Blowers, Pumps etc.
Recommend electrical installation ideas, improvements and feeding back lessons learnt into design team.
Review sub-contractor electrical installations and prepare snag lists.
Prepare and complete Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Records (ITRs) before and during installations.
Cable calculations
Lighting designs using Dialux software
Mentor and coach junior engineers, electricians and future graduates.
Prepare final documentation (As-Built Drawings etc.)
Essential

Desire to learn and to develop the ability to take the lead on a project
Full UK/European driving licence. Ability to travel to various jobs in the North West region (For the right candidate we can offer transport or pay car allowance.)
Keen to express own ideas and ask questions
Studied Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or similar.

Starting Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)
North West Region
2:2 and above
Working hours 7am - 6pm. Early finish on Friday's.
EU/ British Citizen - No work permits at this time.
