Having studied at university for 2 years, I wanted to spend my 3rd year doing an industrial placement because I wanted a taste of what sort of responsibilities I may have after graduating. Choosing to do my placement year at Celanese, Newport has allowed me to have 'real-world' responsibilities whilst still developing a plethora of skills that I never even knew I needed.
My placement so far has allowed me to learn about so many more aspects of engineering than what I could learn at university. University is great for teaching you all about the fundamentals of engineering, but the problems you face in the 'real-world' are so different to the problems you will work through in university.
I strongly believe that by choosing to do my industrial placement year with Celanese, I will not only graduate with my degree but also a whole heap more practical knowledge that I would never have learned had I not joined the company.
The site is such a friendly place, and the whole team is dedicated to making you feel welcomed and valued. Above all, we have such a brilliant network of people on site that are truly devoted to your development throughout the 13 months you will spend here.
