Having completed two years of my integrated course at the University of Manchester, I chose to do an industrial placement as part of my degree to gain insight into the responsibilities and expectations of a professional engineering role after graduation.
My placement at Celanese in Newport has given me the opportunity to do exactly that. From early on, I was trusted with meaningful responsibilities while continuing to develop a wide range of technical and professional skills. The work I have been involved in has significantly broadened my understanding of engineering beyond what can be taught in a university alone.
The site has a welcoming and inclusive culture, and I have also received excellent support to help me balance placement responsibilities alongside my university work.
