Internships

Are you looking for a career like no other? Yes! Then an internship with South Wales Police may just be the place to begin your career in a profession where no two days are the same.

The South Wales Police Internship gives you the opportunity to put your academic knowledge to the test in a practical and professional setting where you will gain valuable work experience and training. You can be confident that throughout your internship you will be supported by an expert team who will encourage you to fulfil your potential.

Our internships are paid and are one year long starting in September annually. They are suited to those studying for a degree and looking for a year in industry placement or those who have recently graduated and are looking to gain an insight and experience within policing. 

Please note to be eligible for the SWP Internship Programme you must:

  • Currently be studying on a degree course or have graduated within three years.
  • Not have previously completed an Internship programme with South Wales Police.

This post maybe applicable for candidates who are currently studying in the UK on a Tier 4 (Adult students) visa, if the level of standard recruitment vetting is successfully granted. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis following application.

Graduate Programme

Are you looking for a career like no other? Yes! Then the South Wales Police Graduate Programme may just be the place to begin your career in a profession where no two days are the same.

The South Wales Police Graduate programme is an excellent opportunity for you if you are looking to gain essential work experience in your chosen field while building on your academic achievements. You can be confident that throughout your graduate programme you will be supported by an expert team who will encourage you to fulfil your potential.

Our graduate programme is paid and is for a period of two years long starting in September. It is suited to final year University students due to complete their course this year (with a predicted grade of 2:1 or above) or alternatively those who have graduated within three years with a 2:1 or above. At the end of the 2 years, there is also an opportunity to become a permanent employee of South Wales Police, subject to your fulfilling the necessary criteria.

Please note to be eligible for the SWP Graduate Programme you must:

  • Currently be studying on a degree course or have graduated within three years.
  • Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom. In certain circumstances, we can accommodate temporary visa requirements, dependant on role.
  • Not have previously completed a graduate programme with South Wales Police.
