Today, we are a leading company in Europe in the production of low emission steel with the largest circular supply chain in Europe. We recycle scrap metal using electric arc furnaces to produce steel in the most efficient and sustainable way possible.
Across the CELSA Group, we have around 10,000 employees and have locations in:
We are the largest producer of circular steel in Europe producing around 5.4 million tonnes a year and our aim is to decarbonise the steel industry. We have set ourselves a number of ambitious environmental targets, such as launching our Pathway to Net Zero by 2030. In carrying out this plan, we aim to be leaders in the decarbonisation of the UK steel sector, aligning with the Net Zero carbon emissions targets set by the UK government. We are also aiming to be Net Positive by 2050.
In 2003, CELSA Group acquired CELSA Steel UK in Cardiff. Since 2003 we have developed and grown our operations, which has included the commission of a new Melt Shop in 2006. We now produce around 1.2 million tonnes of circular steel each year with our customers being mainly from the UK and Irish markets.
We are one of the largest employers in South Wales, we employ around 850 people across our various departments.
