As part of the NDA group Graduate Programme, you will have the opportunity to gain experience across the organisations that make up the NDA group, working in a variety of teams, locations and environments. You'll contribute to meaningful work that has a lasting impact, helping to support the safe, secure and sustainable management of the UK's nuclear legacy. Along the way, you'll learn from industry experts, build valuable networks and develop a broad range of technical, professional and behavioural skills that will prepare you for a successful career in the nuclear sector.
Alongside your placements, you'll take part in the NDA group Graduate Development Programme, designed to accelerate your personal and professional growth.
Where relevant, you'll be supported to achieve professional accreditation, registration or chartership.
With guidance from experienced professionals, mentors and programme stakeholders, you'll gain the knowledge, confidence and capability needed to thrive across the NDA group and make a meaningful contribution to the future of the UK's nuclear industry.
The Professional Services Job Family provides strategic, operational and specialist support across the NDA group. Roles in this family help the organisation make effective decisions, manage resources, support people and deliver business priorities.
This job family includes areas such as commercial and procurement, finance, people, communications, legal and business improvement. Together, these functions help the NDA group operate effectively and deliver its mission in a safe, secure, sustainable and cost-conscious way.
Corporate Affairs teams manage internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, and public relations. They promote transparency and build trust in the NDA group’s mission to safely and efficiently manage nuclear materials.
As a Communications Graduate, you will help build understanding, trust and confidence in the work of the NDA group as it delivers one of the UK's most complex and nationally significant environmental missions.
Clear, timely and effective communication is essential to the successful delivery of the NDA group's mission. Communications professionals help organisations explain complex issues, engage with diverse audiences, protect and enhance reputation, and maintain strong relationships with the people and communities affected by their work.
Working alongside experienced professionals and business stakeholders, you may contribute to activities across internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, media relations, public affairs, digital communications, campaigns, events and corporate reporting. You will develop an understanding of how communications teams support transparency, organisational priorities and informed decision-making.
You could gain exposure to developing communication plans and content, supporting engagement with employees, government, local communities, stakeholder groups, regulators, recognised trade unions, the media and the public, and helping teams respond effectively in sensitive or fast-moving situations. You may also support public policy activity and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
This breadth of experience will help you build strong written and verbal communication skills, strategic awareness and the confidence to communicate complex information clearly and appropriately for different audiences. You will also learn how effective communications and stakeholder engagement contribute to reputation, trust and the successful delivery of business priorities in a highly regulated environment.
This pathway would suit individuals who are curious, audience-focused and interested in how organisations communicate, influence and build trusted relationships.
Whether your interests lie in employee communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, digital content or campaigns, this pathway will provide valuable experience supporting communications within a unique and nationally important industry.
