Our Projects

From our network of offices, the team at PJA supports a wide range of private and public sector clients, helping to deliver numerous residential, commercial and mixed use schemes for expanding towns and cities, throughout the UK and overseas. A selection of our projects can be viewed below.

Chapel Riverside, Southampton

PJA was commissioned by Inland Homes to provide transport planning and design advice for a residential-led mixed use development scheme at Chapel Riverside in Southampton.

The development will accommodate 457 residential units as well as 5,000sq.m of commercial space and will create a new neighbourhood with generous green spaces and an extension of the Riverfront Walk, which integrates the site into the wider city area.

Carrington Street/Middle Hill, Nottingham

PJA was appointed by Nottingham City Council to provide highway and urban design advice for streetscape improvements to Carrington Street, Canal Street and Middle Hill.

The route provides a key pedestrian link between the city centre and the railway station, but is currently highway dominated, cluttered with poor pedestrian connectivity, inconsistent and poor-quality materials.

Millbrook Park, Barnet, London

Millbrook Park is a residential development on the outskirts of Barnet, London. The vision for the site is to create a thriving, sustainable community with homes that are designed to suit today’s lifestyles. Once fully built out the site will encompass 2,240 properties, developed in 15 phases, alongside a range of community facilities.

Since January 2020, PJA have been appointed as Residential Travel Plan Coordinator (TPC) for Millbrook Park by Rapleys, on behalf of Inglis Consortium.

Wembley Stadium - Pedestrian Modelling

As part of the wider transport modelling for Wembley Stadium, the PJA team were required to undertake pedestrian modelling.

The pedestrian modelling was required to simulate the departures of spectators after a sporting event, with the aim of understanding the impact on general traffic and coaches in the surrounding area. The modelling also allowed the time taken for all spectators to empty the stadium to be established.

Avonmouth, Bristol

St Modwen Park at Access 18, Avonmouth is an existing commercial development occupying a brownfield site that was once the Britannia Zinc works.

PJA continued its work with St Modwen at Access 18 to provide transport planning services to support the latest phase of the development, a hybrid application for Phase 8, comprising circa 100,000sqm of B2/B8 commercial floorspace and a new hotel.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, PJA’s role included preparation of a Transport Assessment and Framework Travel Plan and preliminary access design work.

Melton North Sustainable Urban Extension

PJA provided transport planning and engineering input into two outline planning applications forming part of the wider Melton North Sustainable Urban Extension.

PJA was appointed by Richborough Estates and Leicestershire County Council for the two adjacent schemes, which promote up to 700 dwellings, a new primary school and an extension to an existing secondary school, forming part of a wider SUE for up to 1,900 dwellings.

Former Prison Sites

PJA was commissioned by City & Country to provide transport planning advice for the conversion of two former Victorian prisons to residential apartment developments. Former HMP Kingston is located to the east of Portsmouth City Centre, in a residential area close to the Portsmouth City Football Club.

PJA provided extensive advice on the internal layout of the site, along with the access strategy for the development.  The historic nature of the prison buildings, along with the restrictions of the perimeter walls present challenges in achieving effective vehicular access.
