Graduate Aerospace FAIR Support Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing

Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical.

Temporary – 2 to 3 Months | Immediate Start | Potential to Extend

Harlow Group is an established UK manufacturing business supplying precision components and assemblies into the aerospace and other high-technology sectors.

We are looking for a Graduate or Junior Engineer to join us immediately on a temporary basis for approximately 2–3 months, supporting our existing FAIR Engineer with the preparation and completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

There may be an opportunity for the position to be extended depending upon workload and performance.

The Role

Working alongside our FAIR Engineer and Quality team, you will help collate the technical and inspection information required to complete FAIR documentation for manufactured aerospace components.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collating dimensional inspection results, material certification, process certification and other manufacturing records.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings and identifying the information required for each FAIR.
  • Gathering measurements and statistical information relating to individual component characteristics.
  • Populating FAIR software with the required data and supporting documentation.
  • Checking that FAIR packs are complete, accurate and traceable.
  • Preparing completed FAIR submissions for delivery to customers and/or independent verification bodies.
  • Liaising with Inspection, Quality, Engineering and Production teams to obtain missing information.
  • Supporting the FAIR Engineer in managing a significant volume of FAIR activity.

Who We Are Looking For

This could suit a recent graduate or someone at an early stage of their engineering career who is looking to gain practical experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment.

You should ideally have:

  • A degree, HNC/HND or similar qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • The ability to understand engineering drawings and dimensional information.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Very good attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with spreadsheets, databases and technical software.
  • The ability to organise large amounts of information accurately.
  • A methodical approach and willingness to investigate missing or inconsistent information.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across Production, Inspection, Engineering and Quality.
  • Previous knowledge of AS9102, First Article Inspection or aerospace quality systems would be useful but is not essential. Training and support will be provided.

Location and Availability

This is a site-based position and is available for an immediate start.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience of the aerospace manufacturing and quality process, working with real production components, engineering drawings, inspection data and customer quality requirements.

For someone looking to develop a career in aerospace quality, manufacturing engineering, inspection, NPI or production engineering, it provides considerably more practical exposure than a purely office-based graduate role.

What we offer

  • A genuine development role with a clear progression path
  • Exposure to real operational and strategic projects
  • Competitive starting salary
We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
