As an Engineering Graduate at EDF EPR Engineering UK, you'll earn a salary of £37,500 per annum. The programme is expected to begin in early September 2027, when you'll join our graduate community and start building your career at EDF. This graduate scheme has opportunities within disciplines such as piping design and procurement, EPR systems, electrical design, and electrical layout.
Over the course of a 16-month programme, you'll complete placements across EDF while building experience in design, systems engineering and project delivery. You'll contribute to major nuclear projects while helping the transition towards An Electric Britain through the delivery of safe, reliable low-carbon electricity infrastructure.
EDF EPR Engineering delivers the design for nuclear island buildings, systems, and equipment for Hinkley Point C and similar projects. Working as part of an integrated team, EPR Engineering supports construction and commissioning while preparing design-replication feasibility and related engineering activities.
You'll be assigned to one of our technical disciplines and gain experience through placements across different teams, locations and areas of activity. Opportunities are available in piping design and procurement, EPR systems, electrical design and electrical layout, giving you broad exposure to a range of engineering specialisms.
Throughout the programme, you'll contribute to activities such as working on EPR systems, supporting technical design reviews, site acceptance testing, design replication for Sizewell C and evaluating modifications to systems during construction. Alongside meaningful project work, you'll benefit from a tailored development pathway and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Continuous professional development is an important part of your journey at EDF. You'll have opportunities to undertake development through accredited and non-accredited bodies, with the expectation of working towards relevant professional registration. On completion of the Science and Engineering Programme, you'll move into a permanent role where you'll continue building your skills and competencies towards professional registration and future career opportunities across the business.
Qualifications for the Science and Engineering Graduate Programme are based on the professionally recognised institute or institution of an individual's discipline, including IET, IMA, IoP, IChemE, ICE, IEMA, IMechE and RSC.
You'll be based at one of our key sites – #Bristol, #Bridgwater – with the flexibility to rotate across locations depending on your placements. This gives you the opportunity to experience different teams, projects and environments across EDF's nuclear business.
You’ll need to be based on-site 3–5 days per week. We'll support you with practical and financial assistance to help make relocation and placement moves as smooth as possible throughout the programme.
Michael joined EDF's Design Engineering Graduate Scheme in 2025. Since starting the programme, he has gained experience across the EPR Engineering Centre in Bristol, Hinkley Point C and Nuclear Services, developing a broad understanding of the business through rotational placements.
During the programme, Michael has contributed to Operational Experience reports, updated engineering drawings that support site delivery and led project kick-off meetings. These opportunities have helped him build technical expertise, strengthen stakeholder management skills and expand his professional network across EDF.

To be eligible for this EDF graduate programme, you need to have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Maths or Physics. You'll also need strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a genuine interest in nuclear energy and technology.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
Please note that an Assessment Centre stage of the hiring process will take place virtually on 10 November 2026. Applicants must be able to attend on this date to be considered for the programme.
