The Opportunity

As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineering Graduate at Hinkley Point C, you'll earn a salary of £37,500 per annum. The programme is expected to begin in early September 2027, when you'll join our graduate community and start building your career at EDF.

Over the course of this 16-month programme, you'll gain hands-on experience across a range of engineering activities including control equipment maintenance, protection systems, installation support, software assurance and cyber security. You'll develop the skills and knowledge needed to progress into a permanent role while contributing to EDF's mission of supporting the transition towards An Electric Britain.

Continuous professional development is an important part of your journey. You'll have opportunities to undertake development through accredited and non-accredited bodies, with the expectation of working towards relevant professional registration and continued career growth beyond the programme.

What You’ll Experience

Being part of Hinkley Point C means helping to shape the future of low-carbon energy. You'll contribute to a project that will provide clean electricity for millions of homes while supporting the UK's energy security.

You'll gain practical experience developing maintenance routines for control equipment, reviewing protection system designs, supporting installation activities and troubleshooting alongside experienced technical teams. You'll also contribute to software assurance activities and cyber security audits within a highly regulated engineering environment.

No two days are the same. You could be supporting commissioning and configuration teams, maintaining design documentation, participating in validation testing or collaborating with system designers to help deliver one of the UK's most significant engineering projects. Every experience will help you build confidence, technical expertise and professional capability.

Location

You'll be based full-time at #HinkleyPointC for the duration of the programme. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you'll gain first-hand experience in a unique operational environment and build strong professional networks across the site.

Due to operational activities, you'll be expected to work on-site five days per week. You'll therefore need to live, or be willing to relocate, within a reasonable commuting distance of #HinkleyPointC.

Where This Programme Could Take You

Jaisan joined EDF's Instrumentation and Control Engineer graduate pathway and experienced first-hand the breadth of opportunities available across the Hinkley Point C project. Working with a range of teams, he developed valuable technical knowledge while contributing to important engineering activities.

The experience helped him build strong foundations for a long-term engineering career. Through exposure to experienced colleagues, complex systems and real project challenges, he gained skills and knowledge that continue to support his professional development.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF graduate programme, you need to have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a bachelor's or postgraduate degree in a STEM subject. This includes generic STEM degrees that demonstrate strong scientific, analytical and numerical capability, such as psychology, biology, medicine, environmental and natural sciences, economics and geography. You'll have an interest in nuclear energy and technical problem-solving.

It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility, we reserve the right in our decisions to give priority to those who already have the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Please note that an Assessment Centre stage of the hiring process will take place online on 25 November 2026. Applicants must be able to attend on this date to be considered for the programme.
