Role Outline

This will be a 12month work placement as an electronics engineer working on the electronics and embedded software of industrial measurement and analytical instrumentation in a product design and development team within a leading global multinational engineering corporation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Designing, validating and delivering quality embedded software for microcontroller based electronics products and test rigs, primarily written in C, completed to agreed timescales and specification.
  • Working within a multi-functional team of design engineers on new product development projects and legacy product design enhancements.
  • Estimating, planning and documenting own work at all stages of development cycle.
  • Team working, communicating with and providing technical support to other departments, although working independently if necessary.
  • Applying a variety of accepted technology concepts as well as having the resourcefulness to apply new methodologies and technologies.
  • Complying with the corporate and regulatory standards and systems relevant to the workplace for quality, safe working, ethics and integrity, environment and risk management.

Essential

  • By the start of the placement, will have completed at least two years of ongoing undergraduate studies in electronic engineering or a related subject and be able to spend at least 12months in industrial employment.
  • Reasonable competency in software design and programming of microcontroller systems using C.

Desirable

  • Understanding of microcontroller peripherals (ADCs, DACs, PWMs, interrupts, IO, memory, UARTs, timers/counters, etc).
  • Understanding of microcontroller assembly code.
  • Experience of programming in Python and C#.
