Working in our Business Systems Department, our Support Analysts play a key role in keeping our global IT infrastructure and desktop IT equipment running smoothly and securely within defined standards and procedures. This is a varied role requiring the ability to provide fast, efficient, and diligent support to keep our global workforce productive when using technology in their own jobs. 

As well as providing reactive frontline support to our global employees our Support Analysts play a proactive role in supporting the rollout of various business projects. Examples of recent projects include:

  • Windows 7 to 10 migration
  • Provision of IT equipment to support Hybrid working in the UK
  • Re-allocation and distribution of IT equipment from a former site.
  • RAM upgrade of CAD PCs

An industrial placement at Renishaw offers you the chance to learn more about the various operations and roles within a global manufacturing organisation.

The placement will involve working on live issues under the mentorship of our experienced Support Analysts.  As well as gaining hands on experience in your chosen field, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.  

What will I do?

You will be work as part of our support team responding to service requests for:

  • New pcs, printers and accessories
  • Provision of application software
  • Faults and incidents arising with:
    • The use of our standard PC applications including MS: Office, Visio and Project
    • Server applications & Cloud Services including MS SQL, Hyper V, M365 and Azure
    • IT infrastructure e.g. WAN/LAN datalink outages and issues with access to data storage
    • Business critical applications e.g. printing from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems

You will also be required to assist with ad hoc projects and activities in line with the wider Business Systems Department strategy.

What skills and experience do I need?

Applicants must have:

  • A good understanding of Windows 10/11 and preferably Windows Server.
  • An understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • An appreciation of Cyber Security principles.
  • An appreciation of Cloud Services.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance of customer service, perhaps gained through work-based experience.

Where will I be working?

This role is based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire and you may on occasion be required to travel to other Renishaw sites for work. As Renishaw is based in a semi-rural location, it is essential that applicants have their own form of transport, or they are willing to relocate to the local area.
