My current role is within the O2 Central Opex team, I really enjoy the variety of work within Opex, from legal spend, to travel, to events; I’ve been able to see a range of activities that go on across Virgin Media O2. My role has also allowed me to have a broad reach across different areas in the business, and I’ve loved meeting and working with new people.
The scheme brings so many different opportunities to get involved in. Within my role, my highlight so far is being able to develop and improve existing processes using automation. It has been really valuable being able to deliver results to stakeholders ahead of time. Within the scheme, my highlight so far is our finance quarterly events. I love being able to spend the day with the entire finance graduate cohort. The day is filled with insightful and interactive talks from a variety of people across the business, team building activities and celebrating achievements within the scheme.
The culture here is one of my favourite things about the finance scheme and Virgin Media O2. It is a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment that puts people first. There is a real focus on bringing to life the “Can-do” value, including lots of opportunities for development, both in and outside of your role that enable you to learn, grow and meet people from across the business.
I undertook a placement year at university and spent my time as a finance intern here at Virgin Media O2. It was an amazing way to get an insight into what a career in finance may be like, and a taste for working in a large corporate company. I chose finance at Virgin Media O2 because of the excellent scheme structure and company culture. I feel really supported and empowered in both my role and my studies, despite not coming from a finance background.
