I first read about the opportunity to join Emerson on LinkedIn and was fortunate to be accepted into the graduate scheme after an initial interview and an assessment centre held in their Leicester office.
The scheme began with an initial 9 week boot camp based out in their campus in Cluj, Romania. The boot camp was a fantastic experience where we integrated with other graduates from the UK&I, explored the city and attended several training courses associated with DeltaV. This gave me a comprehensive insight into the software and hardware associated with the DeltaV DCS and has proved to be of great benefit as I get involved with more project work, specifically supporting North Sea oil and gas customers, here in Aberdeen.
To date I have been exposed to various project work, notably carrying out and leading the FAT for a new well control methodology. This involved face to face interaction with the customer on a daily basis and supporting the offshore team during commissioning. I have also attended another DeltaV training course in Leicester.
The team here are supportive and they take time to make sure I understand things when I have a question – everyone's door is always open. The working environment here in Aberdeen is great.
Moving forward, I am hoping to get offshore to support with DeltaV maintenance and commissioning work, and have another DeltaV training course planned for later in the year.
