Right at the beginning of the programme we started with 9 weeks of training in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The Cluj 'Bootcamp' was an excellent experience and gave me a good start at Emerson.
The training was extensive covering all of the hardware and software we would be working with as well as industry standards. This meant that upon returning to the UK we had a good foundation to build on and allowed us to get straight into gaining some real world experience. Outside of our training we had the chance to explore Romania. Emerson made it a really enjoyable experience by providing nice apartments, cars and covering the cost of our food (there are some great restaurants in Cluj). It was a good opportunity to meet the other grads and have a great introduction to working life.
Since returning from Cluj we have had the opportunity to work in a variety of different functions. We have spent some time working on projects putting into practice what we learned in Cluj and gaining valuable new experience such as being able to understand customer inputs and seeing how real projects are executed. We have also been given the opportunity to work in Product Engineering, a group of experts that work in-between the Global Service Center and the software development teams, analysing issues that customers have found to report bugs and find workarounds. Working in PE provided a much deeper knowledge of the software giving us some very useful experience.
The people at Emerson are supportive and kind making it a welcoming place to work and I look forward to continuing my career with Emerson.
