Plan and Logistics

What opportunities has Diageo provided you?

Diageo has provided me with amazing opportunities. I’ve been given international experience in Asia, as well as the flexibility to learn about manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, technical and planning across my 8 years with the company. I have been given lots of responsibility from an early stage in my career, from managing new to world innovation projects, leading a large operations team processing whisky and now shaping Diageo’s supply chain digital future.

What’s the most exciting thing about your role?

My current role of Logistics Transition Lead is concentrated on implementing brand new technology into the supply chain to keep track of all of Diageo’s export movements, from Europe to the world! The most exciting part about it is that it is truly shaping how the future of our customer service will look. I get to work with a talented Diageo team and external suppliers to deliver something that is right at the edge of what is possible right now.

How would you describe Diageo’s culture?

Diageo’s culture is open, collaborative and focuses on you as an individual. Senior leaders in the business, however busy they are, will make time to speak with you one-on-one about how you are doing and where you want to get to in terms of career progression and personal development. People are allowed to be themselves and everyone is approachable. Challenge is welcomed, which leads to richer discussions.

What has Diageo taught you about yourself?

I have learnt a lot about myself in my time with Diageo. The breadth of experience I have gained across different functions, offices and countries has taught me that there is no substitute for building great working relationships with the people around you. I’ve worked hard on my ability to really listen to what others are saying so that I can better understand them and have richer conversations. I’ve learnt about my own personality style, which is quite direct, and how that impacts on those around me. Knowing how best to adjust that, when it is necessary, and when to embrace it has been a huge part of my development journey.
