I studied Civil Engineering (BEng) then Structural with Maritime Structures (MEng) at University of Liverpool graduating in 2011.
The Graduate Programme exposed me to new opportunities and a career path I was unaware of coming out of university. I intended on becoming a Structural Engineer however, the variety of the scheme led me to take the position of Junior Petroleum Engineer following a successful placement in this department.
Following my time in Petroleum Engineering, I had the opportunity to attend a 3-week subsidiary visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo; marking the start of my career at Perenco overseas. I became an expat working as a Field Production Engineer and spent the next 7 years working in 5 different sites over the Congo, Cameroon and Gabon. In 2021 I progressed to Offshore Installation Manager in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Perenco Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity and support to work in other departments with international placements a real possibility. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working as a Field Production Engineer abroad which was both challenging and rewarding. I would advise applicants that Perenco has a wealth of opportunity for those who are self-motivated, hardworking and capable.
