We operate in 14 countries across Central Africa, Latin America, South-East Asia as well as Europe.
Our founder, Hubert Perrodo, was a man ahead of his time. Perenco was created from his entrepreneurial vision, after he found a gap in the market in mature oil and gas fields.
The son of a French fisherman, he started a rental company for service barges in 1975. Going onto become a ship-owner in his own right.
In 1981 he founded the drilling company Techfor, reselling it in 1992 to focus on the acquisition of oil and gas interests. Perrodo Energy Company - Perenco - was born, with Hubert quickly focusing on the operation of mature and marginal oil fields.
His relentless capacity for transformation means we are now a leading international independent hydrocarbon company.
We're a growing family business, still guided by his core values: responsibility, excellence and passion. Hubert’s son, François, took over in 2006, pushing our engineers to innovate and putting operations back at the heart of the business.

After 30 years of technical and geographical adventures, a new cycle is opening now for Perenco. Gas will be more and more important in the company in accordance with the host countries’ energy transition policies.
We’ll do more locally to support its development and more internationally to feed it with new innovations. We know there is much more that can be done in these countries and with these fields.
