Tata Steel is one of the largest steel producers and with my background in metallurgy I saw joining the Research Centre as a solid foundation for my research career.
I am currently tasked with developing new ultra-high-strength rod / wire steels and new grade rail steels; providing technical support to existing grade rail steels and with seeking solutions to repair worn tramway tracks.
Tata Steel pay for a professional membership fee and provide professional mentors to support graduates in their professional accreditation / chartership. I am currently working towards IOM3 Chartered Engineer status.
Swinden Technology Centre (STC) is located in Rotherham, a town 10 miles away from Sheffield city centre. It is a great place to work, where we are able to work on a flexi-time basis and enjoy fantastic sports facilities like gym, tennis and football pitches.
