I was initially drawn to the construction industry due to the visibility and possibilities, the ability to say “I helped to build that” was a thought that really stayed with me. I took the opportunity for a weeklong placement with a Civil Engineering firm during a half term whilst in my first year at 6th form and haven’t looked back since! The fact that no two days are the same and the ability to combine office and site work were also key benefits of the industry to me.
The graduate scheme has given me the tools, a network, and the platform to accelerate my career. Giving a clear path forward for progression, the necessary training and assistance to achieve this and where there isn’t a clear place the contacts who can help define it.
I enjoy working at Bouygues due to the size of the projects and the responsibilities entrusted to me. Bouygues TP has allowed me to begin my career on HS2, a project that was the centre piece of many of my university assignments.
Although I have moved to a new role within the Renewable Energy Sector it is again a mega project pushing innovation, inviting you to problem solve and think differently which ensures that there is always something new to keep you on your toes.
