You’ll join our Smart Infrastructure Division based at Hebburn, with an expectation to work on-site 5 days per week. We understand that flexibility is sometimes needed, so occasional remote working can be accommodated where appropriate. Working hours are 8-hour days Monday to Thursday, with an early finish on Friday (8am–1pm). We encourage regular collaboration on-site to help you connect, learn from industry leaders and gain hands-on experience, with some flexibility where appropriate.
In this role, you will:
Work as part of a small team to develop microprocessor, digital and analogue circuits for our devices.
Take circuit designs from initial concept through to schematic capture, layout and testing.
Develop test specifications and carry out module and system integration testing.
Collaborate with international development teams across different Siemens businesses.
What We’re Looking For
We focus on potential, curiosity, and your drive to learn rather than past experience.
This opportunity is open to undergraduate students looking to complete a one-year industrial placement as part of their degree.
Currently working towards a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related subject.
You understand basic electrical principles, including digital and analogue circuit design.
You enjoy working as part of a team and adapting your approach as ideas and designs develop.
You’re curious and enjoy working through technical problems to find practical solutions.
You can communicate your ideas clearly and feel comfortable presenting your thinking and results to others.
Some familiarity with schematic capture tools and PCB layout would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
Our Fair & Transparent Process: No CV Bias
We want everyone to have an equal chance to shine. While you’ll submit your CV, our hiring teams will not view your CV until the final stage of assessment. We evaluate your strengths, mindset, and problem-solving abilities, not just your background.
What’s In It For You?
Continuous Growth:
A dedicated induction week away to build your national peer network.
Structured rotations, continuous mentoring, and formal professional development.
A celebration at our annual GB&I Recognition Awards upon programme graduation.
