Application and assessment

How to apply - graduate roles

1. Online registration, 25‑35 minutes

Make sure you can demonstrate your knowledge of AECOM and the team you're applying to and be ready to show your passion and enthusiasm.

You’ll start with a short online registration to enter your details and show your suitability and passion for the practice area(s) you choose.

2. Behavioural and logical reasoning assessment, 35‑45 minutes

The next step is to take our interactive online assessment designed to give you a taste of what it’s like to work at AECOM and be part of our culture. It’s also a chance for us to see your logical reasoning skills in action and the key behaviours graduates need to thrive here.

3. Final stage assessment, 2+ hours

If you’re shortlisted for the final stage, you’ll be invited to participate in a technical assessment or a full assessment day with the team you’re being considered for. We’ll share all the details you need once you’ve reached this stage.

There is no application deadline so please apply as soon as possible.

Useful tips

  • Check the job descriptions first. They’ll tell you which practice areas you can apply to based on your degree.
  • You can only submit one application. But we'll consider you for all relevant open opportunities.
  • Be yourself. Answer honestly in the behavioural and logical reasoning assessment. Don't try to second guess what you think we want to hear.
  • Prep for the final stage assessment. Make sure you can demonstrate your knowledge of AECOM and the team you're applying to and be ready to show your passion and enthusiasm. Bring a few insightful questions too.
  • Put effort into your application form. Highlight your work experience or transferable skills and use the free-text questions towards the end of the form to show your passion for your chosen practice areas, along with any relevant skills and knowledge.

How to apply - degree apprentice roles

1. Online registration

You’ll start with a short online registration to enter your details and show your suitability and passion for the practice area(s) you choose.

2. Interview

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an interview either in person at the office you applied to or online via Microsoft Teams. The interview will explore skills like your teamwork and communication skills, as well as any technical knowledge you have gained through your studies or work experience.

For some roles, you may also be asked to complete a short written technical assessment specific to the team you are applying to. We understand that most school leavers will have little or no experience, so do not worry, we don’t expect you to be an expert.

There is no application deadline so please apply as soon as possible.

Useful tips

Getting ready for your interview? Here’s how to prepare.

  • Research as much as you can about us and the team you are applying to so you can speak confidently about who we are and what we do.
  • Demonstrate your passion for working at AECOM and for the specific role you have applied for. You can do this in both your cover letter and during the interview. Why are you interested? What are your relevant skills and experience? What are your long-term ambitions?
  • Be ready to share examples of key skills such as teamwork, problem-solving and communication.
  • Come prepared with insightful questions to ask at the end of the interview. This is another great way to demonstrate your enthusiasm for the role and for AECOM.
