Life at Admiral

Location

We are proud to be the only FTSE 100 company headquartered in Wales, in the capital city of Cardiff. Our STEM roles are primarily based in Cardiff, which is a small, but vibrant, city. Home to world famous venues attracting the biggest stars and events (including Taylor Swift, Oasis, Ed Sheeran, as well as the Six Nations Rugby Championship), fantastic shopping and dining.

If you’re thinking of relocating, we know how daunting it can be. Download our Life in Cardiff brochure to discover what Cardiff has to offer, as well as information on finding your way around the city and finding somewhere to live.

Our offices are purpose-built and designed to ensure seamless collaboration and meaningful interactions with colleagues in a hybrid working world. Each floor has a kitchen area, chill out spaces, and quiet booths to help you get the most out of your office days.

We have a relaxed office dress code.

Ty Admiral, our Cardiff HQ, also has a multi-denominational prayer room and a mindfulness room open to everyone.

In addition to Ty Admiral, we also have another Cardiff office which houses our Admiral Pioneer brand, an office in Swansea, and an office in Peterborough.

Be You

At Admiral you’re accepted, supported and empowered to be you. Because you’re brilliant.

You get to experience our truly people-centric culture. We celebrate diversity. We support wellbeing. And we connect and collaborate to make sure we include everyone. The benefits are flexible, and our people really value being able to build work around life, with flexible and hybrid working.

Our diversity and inclusion networks run a calendar of events and actively encourage allies to get involved. We have shaped a culture that gives you the confidence, and the safe spaces, to represent yourself and what you stand for in our business.

Our Working Groups:

  • Ty Rainbow, promoting a safe and inclusive environment to support LGBT+ colleagues and customers, as well as providing a social support network
  • Gender, ensuring equality of opportunity, reward, and ability to balance home and work life regardless of gender
  • Ethnicity and Culture, supporting Admiral in becoming a more ethnically diverse and inclusive company through awareness, discussion, and improving the working environment
  • Age, focusing on understanding the needs of our colleagues across different age ranges and throughout all stages of life
  • Disability and Neurodiversity, promoting a safe and healthy environment for all our team members, raising awareness and supporting inclusion within this community
  • Social Mobility, ensuring that regardless of background, everyone can fulfil their potential and is able to progress in their careers

Sustainability

Our colleagues are empowered to Make A Difference. We prioritise doing what’s right: for customers, for each other, and beyond. So you can live by your values and define your own direction.

Everyone at Admiral gets two days of paid Impact Hours every year to volunteer and get involved in what matters to them. By supporting what’s important to you, you get to build a sense of pride as we make a difference together for our customers, each other, and our communities.

UK colleagues can make use of our Community Fund and Match Fund as another way to Make A Difference. Our Community Fund allows colleagues to apply for a grant of up to £500 to support an organisation they’re involved with, and our Match Fund matches any amount fundraised by colleagues to maximise their impact.

With our purpose of ‘helping more people to look after their future’ in mind, we’ve also partnered with social enterprises dedicated to supporting people outside of Admiral to secure sustainable and fulfilling employment.

Above all, no matter how many people you ask, it’s the people that work here that make this a great place to work.
