Job Description

The 3D Integration Office, part of CERN's EN-ACE group, coordinates integration activities for the third Long Shutdown (LS3), a major programme shaping the future of the accelerator complex.

In this role, you will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of designers, oversee complex 3D integration studies, and drive continuous improvement of data quality processes. Working at the core of one of CERN's most ambitious engineering programmes, you will collaborate with diverse technical experts and contribute to the successful integration of advanced systems in a highly international environment.

Your responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, monitor and follow up 3D integration studies supporting the third Long Shutdown (LS3) of the CERN accelerator complex.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during on-site installation and maintenance activities to identify and resolve integration issues.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, update project information in internal IT platforms (e.g. Track It, EDMS), and develop dashboards to support project monitoring and decision-making.
  • Create, update and maintain 3D models using CATIA V5 to ensure accurate and reliable integration data.
  • Contribute to improving the quality of CAD data within the PDM/PLM environment and support robust 3D integration validation workflows.
  • Help develop and standardise 3D integration processes, methodologies and best practices across the Integration Office.
  • Verify mechanical and magnetic references in close collaboration with the Layout and Configuration Management team.
  • Support the organisation and reporting of Integration Committee meetings, fostering effective communication and coordination between stakeholders.
  • Coordinate laser scanning activities with survey and scheduling teams, ensuring efficient planning, compliance with safety requirements and preparation of access authorisations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative web workspaces to centralise information, facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen communication within the Integration Office and with project stakeholders.

Your profile:

  • Mechanical, industrial, systems or integration engineering.
  • Organising and managing technical data using digital engineering or information management tools.
  • Preparing clear technical documentation and presenting engineering information in a structured and accessible way.
  • Coordinating technical activities involving multiple stakeholders and managing priorities effectively.
  • Working with PDM/PLM environments or engineering data management systems is an advantage.

Skills:

  • 3D CAD modelling skills, preferably using CATIA V5 or an equivalent CAD software.
  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies, installation constraints and 3D integration principles.
  • Interest in process improvement, standardisation and engineering quality.
  • Ability to analyse technical issues and propose practical solutions in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without a University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • A valid driving licence.

Global Benefits

  • A monthly stipend between 5266-5793 Swiss Francs per month (tax free) depending on your degree.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure.
  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health insurance scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Family, child and infant monthly allowances depending on your individual circumstances.
  • A relocation package (installation grant and travel expenses) depending on your individual circumstances.
  • Possibility to extend your contract up to 36 months.
  • On-the-job and formal training including language classes.
