Projects Coordinator for Mobility

Transport, Civil, Project Management, Urban Planning, Sustainability, Business.

About us

At CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

Job description

Be part of the future of mobility at CERN and lead projects contributing to the delivery and evolution of CERN's mobility strategy. You will coordinate the implementation of the mobility plan, prepare the next mobility plan, and lead cross-functional projects and events that improve mobility across CERN sites.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor the actions of CERN's mobility plan through to the 2028 horizon, including milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain a consolidated project portfolio and ensure regular, reliable reporting on status, priorities, issues and forthcoming decisions.
  • Work with action owners and stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into practical workplans, deliverables and implementation steps.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the future CERN mobility plan by gathering needs, analysing lessons learned, structuring consultations and drafting supporting material.
  • Pilot mobility-related projects and events, from initial scoping and stakeholder alignment through implementation, operational coordination and post-event review.
  • Participate actively in the CERN mobility working group, prepare inputs and meetings, document conclusions, and coordinate agreed follow-up.
  • Support communication and stakeholder engagement on mobility initiatives, ensuring that information is clear, timely and adapted to the target audience.
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement, sustainability and better user experience, and formulate evidence-based recommendations for decision-making.
  • Ensure that project documentation, decisions, indicators and lessons learned are recorded and accessible for continuity and governance purposes.

Your profile

  • Initial experience in project coordination, multi-stakeholder initiatives, mobility, events, sustainability or service development would be an asset.
  • Experience in an international or multidisciplinary environment would be an advantage.

Skills:

  • Ability to structure and monitor projects, action plans, milestones, risks and deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to turn varied inputs into concise reports and recommendations.
  • Good command of common office, collaboration, presentation and project-tracking tools.
  • Ability to organise meetings, workshops and events and to ensure systematic follow-up.
  • Interest in sustainable mobility, transport services and user-centred service improvement.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work autonomously while escalating risks and decisions appropriately.
  • Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.

Eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Graduated in Project Management, Transport and Mobility, Urban Planning, Sustainability, Engineering, Business Administration, Public Policy or a related field.
  • You have a professional background in Transportation Management, Civil Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Global benefits

  • A monthly net stipend of either 6,372 or 7,004 Swiss Francs per month depending on your degree.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure.
  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health insurance scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Family, child and infant monthly allowances depending on your individual circumstances.
