We encourage you to apply early, as we may close applications before the advertised deadline.
At Graphcore, we’re building next generation AI compute: from semiconductors and software to systems at datacenter scale. We are proud to be owned by SoftBank Group and work with other companies in the SoftBank family to deliver AI compute to customers working at the AI frontier.
Starting your career here means working alongside people with different backgrounds and expertise, from AI researchers to chip designers and software engineers. You’ll learn from each other, bring fresh ideas and help solve challenging problems together.
Explore a career at Graphcore through a 12-week summer internship, gaining hands-on experience on real projects. You’ll bring fresh ideas, put your learning into practice and help shape what we’re creating. Along the way, you’ll tackle challenging problems with a team who welcome your questions and support you as you build your skills and confidence.
Put your Linux and scripting foundations to work exploring the cloud platforms that support Graphcore’s AI systems.
As a Cloud Platform Engineering Intern, you’ll help deploy, test and monitor services across private and public cloud environments. You’ll contribute through clearly scoped tasks, with guidance from experienced engineers as you build confidence.
Your tasks could include writing or improving scripts, reviewing metrics and logs, investigating issues and documenting what you learn. You’ll see how automation and monitoring help the team manage high-performance AI infrastructure and how continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure-as-Code are used in real systems.
The Cloud Platform team provides large-scale AI systems through private and public cloud services. Its work brings together Graphcore AI systems, industry-standard servers, switches and storage. Some environments use pre-release hardware and software, giving you a view of how new technology becomes usable.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers through sprint activities, technical reviews, project demonstrations and practical investigations. You can ask for help as you learn, share your progress and use feedback to improve your work on defined tasks.
Decisions are shaped by evidence, engineering judgement and open discussion. As an intern, you’ll be encouraged to ask questions early, share what you find and try out ideas, with support from experienced engineers as you learn.
Over the 12 weeks, you’ll build practical experience with Linux systems, scripting, automation and monitoring through the work your tasks focus on.
Investigating issues with logs and metrics will help you develop a methodical approach to problem solving and understand how cloud services fit together. Technical reviews and project demonstrations will help you explain your findings, learn from feedback and explore whether platform engineering is a direction you’d like to pursue.
Your internship is a chance to explore a future at Graphcore. Depending on your performance and the roles available, there may be an opportunity to join one of our graduate programmes once you’ve graduated.
Bring an interest in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, networking, CI/CD, monitoring or computer systems.
Previous industry experience is not required. Tell us what you built or investigated through coursework, personal or team projects, independent learning or other relevant experience, how you approached it and what you learned.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences and are committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone can do their best work.
We’re an equal opportunity employer and recognise that everyone brings different strengths and perspectives. If you need any adjustments during the interview process, just let us know - we’re happy to support you.
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme, without requiring visa sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor work visas for our Early Careers opportunities.
To apply, answer the application questions and upload your CV and cover letter. We’ll let you know the outcome of your application by early December at the latest. If successful, you’ll be invited to complete a technical assessment. Candidates who reach the final stage will then be invited to attend in-person assessments in early spring.
