Before embarking on my career in law I studied medicine at university, and Taylor Wessing's sector focus perfectly complimented my passion for life sciences and technology. I was also attracted to the firm due to its international network, which I thought would offer the opportunity to work with colleagues and clients from various jurisdictions, enriching my understanding of international law.
I initially joined Taylor Wessing as a paralegal and got to experience the firm's unwavering commitment to excellence and its inclusive, supportive culture first-hand. My time as a paralegal left an indelible impression on me and solidified my desire to pursue a career as a lawyer at the firm.
Sitting in our Patents practice has given me the opportunity to work at the crossroad between life sciences and law, which I really enjoy. I've had the opportunity to work for clients of various sizes and complexity, from originators to generics, to medical devices manufacturers. The life sciences sector constantly pushes the boundaries of medical science, offering opportunities to work at the forefront of revolutionary research and cutting-edge technologies that directly improve global health.
Working alongside experts from various disciplines fosters a collaborative environment that inspires creative problem-solving and collective achievement. It's been invaluable to learn from the partners and associates I work with on a day-to-day basis, and they always take the time to help if I have a query.
I also recently spent three weeks working alongside the Munich team in Germany. This was an exceptionally beneficial experience which helped me to understand the intersection between UK and German patents law, and I returned with a deeper understanding of the legal landscape in both countries.
