Cyber Graduate Scheme

Computer Science, Software, Cyber Security, IT.

What is NATS?

NATS is the UK’s leading Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP). Every year we handle 2.6 million flights and keep 250 million passengers safe whilst in UK airspace. We provide air traffic management (ATM) services to 15 airports in the UK as well as providing these services around the world spanning Europe, Middle East, Asia and North America.

How we operate
We have the third largest aviation network in the world behind only the USA and China.

We’re shaping the future of ATM through our focus on ‘advancing aviation and keeping the skies safe’ and believe that the size and diversity of our business makes us an exciting choice for undergraduates considering their future careers.

What will the Cyber Graduate Scheme involve?

This two-year scheme will be based at our Head Office in Whiteley or our Air Traffic Control Centre in Swanwick, Hampshire. Our agile working arrangements provide flexibility to work from home where the role allows.

NATS is part of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure, and cyber security is essential to protecting the systems that support safe air traffic operations. Our cyber teams work across policy, standards, architecture and design, threat intelligence, and security operations. They also help colleagues across NATS address security challenges and build a positive security culture.

During the scheme, you’ll rotate through at least two key areas of the business. Depending on your rotations, your work could include:

  • supporting aviation technology programmes to embed security by design
  • carrying out risk assessments on critical aviation systems
  • reviewing threat intelligence
  • reviewing security measures to assess whether they remain fit for purpose
  • helping to build cyber security skills and awareness across NATS
  • working with stakeholders to address security challenges

Why choose NATS?

You’ll work at the heart of our organisation alongside other graduates, placement students and experienced professionals. You’ll gain insight into our business while contributing to work that supports safe air traffic operations.

Your rotations will help you explore different areas of cyber security, apply what you’ve learned and develop practical skills with support from experienced colleagues. We’re committed to your personal and professional development throughout the scheme.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for driven, proactive and committed individuals who are ready to embrace the challenging targets we’ve set ourselves over the next few years. One thing is clear: we can only achieve these targets through our people. We’ll be leading the way technically, operationally, commercially and politically, and you can help us shape the future.

You’ll need to have achieved a minimum 2:2 in a relevant degree, or be on track to achieve one. We’re looking for an interest in cyber security and a willingness to learn across different areas of the field. You could show that interest through your studies, projects or other activities.

To be eligible to apply, you must have indefinite, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we cannot consider candidates whose right to work is time-limited or dependent on visa sponsorship.

You must be able to obtain Security Clearance (SC Level).
