Watch and find out how some of our Early careers employees got on when they first joined CGI and hear where their careers are taking them.

As a Technical Graduate specialising in Software Testing, you’ll be trusted with responsibility from the start. You’ll help ensure that software and digital services are reliable, secure and ready to meet users’ needs by designing and carrying out tests, identifying defects and supporting continuous improvements in quality.

You’ll work alongside software developers, business analysts and other technical specialists on complex systems and live projects. You’ll also have opportunities to develop experience in areas such as test automation, quality assurance, Agile delivery and emerging testing technologies.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you’ll apply your STEM expertise to help shape industries, improve services, and create meaningful societal change by harnessing the power of technology to drive innovation. You will:

  • Design, develop, and test technical solutions for live projects across various sectors such as Government, Energy & Utilities, Retail, Oil & Gas, Health, Financial Services, and Manufacturing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex real-world challenges.
  • Explore and apply emerging technologies in areas such as AI, cloud, data analytics and IoT.
  • Innovate alongside other graduates, taking part in early careers initiatives that go beyond your day-to-day role.

Every contribution you make will help deliver outcomes with lasting impact.

Locations

The Technical Graduate role will be based in CGI's Dublin office.

As CGI is a consultancy, you may be required to work from a CGI office or client site and occasionally travel to different locations. Flexibility and a willingness to travel are therefore important.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

We’re seeking curious and detail-focused graduates who are passionate about technology and interested in building a career in software testing and quality assurance. You’ll bring an analytical mindset, a methodical approach and the confidence to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

You should have:

  • A minimum 2:2 degree, or equivalent, in computer science, software engineering, information technology, mathematics or another related STEM subject.
  • A strong interest in software testing, quality assurance and delivering reliable technology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a logical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to identify, investigate and clearly document software defects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Technical skills we value include:

  • Testing principles: An understanding of software testing, test cases, defect management and the software development lifecycle.
  • Test automation: An interest in automated testing and tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or similar technologies.
  • Programming: Familiarity with a language such as Java, Python, JavaScript or C#.
  • Tools and practices: Exposure to version control, Agile delivery or tools such as Git, Jira and Azure DevOps.
  • Data: A basic understanding of databases, SQL or API testing would be beneficial.

Previous professional testing experience is not required—we’re interested in your potential, enthusiasm for quality and willingness to learn.
