Tell us about your role at ASMPT.
Currently I am a Junior Developer, Technical Training working within CSG to provide e-Learning solutions.
Tell us about your career progression timeline. Including when you started, and how long you've been at ASMPT.
I started back in July 2023 as a placement student for my industrial placement year at ASMPT. Since then I have been offered the amazing opportunity to apply for the graduate retention scheme which I was successful with attaining!
What is your favourite part of working at ASMPT? And what do you enjoy most about your role?
My favourite part about working for ASMPT is the culture within the workplace. Everyone is super helpful and willing to take time to aid you where needed on project work. Within my role, due to its nature, I am constantly learning new concepts to be able to effectively portray the right content into an e-Learning module I am creating; I really enjoy that! And by everyone being so helpful I am able to do my job effectively and accurately.
How much responsibility are you given in your role as a placement/apprentice student?
I am able to take ownership and lead upskill e-Learning projects. This includes being responsible for completing the work on time, in addition to a high standard.
Do you feel your experience will improve your graduate prospects?
Yes! As I have already stated regarding the Graduate Retention Scheme, which is going to help further improve my graduate prospects. The experience I have gained over the last year has provided me with an invaluable skill set which I will be carrying further into my professional career.
How does ASMPT provide a warm friendly culture?
The people really do make the workplace. Everyone I have worked with is super helpful and understanding, this is shown by the time I have had people take to inform me of information regarding my projects. Everyone here at ASMPT I have found very approachable.
How have you found it settling into the company and the role?
I feel that the company were very supportive in the onboarding process and giving an appropriate amount of time to let me settle into my role, learning the new software and the processes that are within the company.
What have you gained from working at ASMPT?
I have gained a better understanding of what I want out of my career going forward, this also includes a new varied skillset which I can apply in my university work. Additionally, I think I have gained a new confidence in myself, this is through the various opportunities I was given to present and share the work that I have produced.
What other opportunities have you got to experience? (For example SSC, Environmental group, sports activities etc.)
I joined the Diversity team to broaden my involvement within the company. This has led to me working and engaging with a variety of people to support and create awareness about upcoming celebrations and holidays from a range of different cultures, beliefs and national awareness events.
What was your experience like living in Weymouth?
I actually am from Dorset, so I have not been living in Weymouth, however, I have grown to know about the area over the past year and getting involved with events.
