Tell us about your role at ASMPT.

As a Junior Electrical Engineer at ASMPT, my role has been really dynamic and interesting. I've been involved in building prototypes, updating circuit diagrams, and contributing to various projects. This hands-on experience has allowed me to work closely with the team to develop new solutions and enhance what we already have.

What is your favourite part of working at ASMPT? What do you enjoy most about your role?

What I love most about working at ASMPT is the chance to put my theoretical knowledge to use in real-world situations. I really enjoy developing new solutions and working on prototypes because it’s exciting to see ideas take shape. The hands-on experience—whether I’m building solutions or designing circuits—really helps me deepen my understanding of electrical engineering and learn from my teammates.

How much responsibility are you given in your role?

As a Junior Electrical Engineer, I have a good amount of responsibility, including managing small projects for prototypes. I still get plenty of guidance from senior engineers, but I'm also trusted to take charge of tasks like updating circuit diagrams and making engineering changes. This really helps me develop my skills and grow in my role.

How does ASMPT support work life balance?

ASMPT really values work-life balance, offering flexible arrangements like the option to work from home for two days if I don’t have lab tasks. This flexibility helps me juggle my commitments more easily. The company also fosters a positive work environment that focuses on employee well-being, which makes it simpler to get things done without feeling overwhelmed.

What are some of the benefits that ASMPT provided throughout your role?

One of the best things about working at ASMPT is the hands-on learning experience. I’ve had the chance to tackle real projects, which has helped me build practical skills that tie in nicely with what I learned in school. The support and mentorship from experienced engineers have been really helpful for my development. Plus, ASMPT promotes innovation and teamwork, making it a fantastic place to grow in my career.

Are able to apply your academic knowledge into your placement?

Definitely! My studies in mechatronic and robotic engineering have been really useful in my role at ASMPT. For instance, what I learned in my electrical engineering module has helped me a lot with updating circuit diagrams and fixing issues during prototype development. I’ve also been able to use my knowledge of control systems while working with automation components, which has helped ensure everything runs smoothly during testing and adjustments.

Do you feel your experience will improve your graduate prospects?

Yes, I definitely think my experience at ASMPT will boost my prospects after graduation. Working as a Junior Electrical Engineer has given me the chance to apply what I've learned in my studies to real-world projects, especially in prototype development and engineering processes. Collaborating with experienced colleagues has also deepened my understanding of the field. This practical experience enhances my resume and helps me build the confidence and skills that will be beneficial in my future career.
