For National Inclusion Week, we take a look at our diversity and inclusion journey so far. From launching our four employee-led Affinity Networks in 2016, developing our Value Everyone Action Plan to setting new D&I targets by 2030 – we’re committed in making inclusion at Balfour Beatty an everyday reality, for everyone.
At Balfour Beatty we are committed to creating a diverse workforce and strive for an inclusive culture which nurtures people of all genders and backgrounds.
As a company that looks to achieve meaningful, sustainable changes – not quick fixes, we recognise that change must be led from the top.
Our Group Chief Executive, Leo Quinn, is our Board-level sponsor for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and for our Diversity and Inclusion strategy, ensuring momentum and a true cultural shift throughout our organisation.
In the UK, we have developed a Value Everyone Action Plan which sets out in detail the steps we are taking to boost the diversity of our business.
To accelerate the pace of change, we have also introduced a set of 2030 diversity & inclusion targets in the UK:
Increasing the number of female colleagues by 50% by 2030
Increasing the number of minority ethnic employees by 60% by 2030
Increasing the number of Black employees by 60% by 2030
Ultimately, we want to be an employer of choice for high quality, talented people no matter their gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, social background or religion, not only because this is the right thing to do, but because it makes us a better business.
