FAQs

About the Company

What is the KEYENCE culture and work environment like?

Our organisation culture is open and flat. We believe all employees are equal and can add value to our organisation through their ideas for improvement. Since our organisation structure is flat, every employee should be able to communicate with anyone regardless of title or position. Our culture is not based on seniority.

Promotions are based solely on performance, not tenure. All employees have the opportunity to get promoted quickly if they are high performers, regardless of the length of service in the company.

KEYENCE employees give 100%. By focusing on generating results as a team and as a company while we're here, when you leave work for the day you should be able to disconnect completely and enjoy your personal time however you wish.

What does the work-life balance look like?

Work-life balance can be a subjective term that means something different to everyone. Simply put, at KEYENCE, each employee is fully responsible for their work and their results. Depending on the individual and your position, you may choose to work longer than your scheduled hours to accomplish a task.

Some departments have busier seasons during certain times of year or certain days of the month that require more tasks to be completed than others. KEYENCE employees who are dedicated to their results are usually willing to put in the effort in these circumstances.

At the same time, KEYENCE encourages a clear separation between work and personal life. We do not expect our employees to work on evenings and weekends. We even provide separate laptop and mobile phone that is strictly for business use so that employees can fully disconnect once they are finished with their work.

Can you tell me more about career development at KEYENCE?

All employees will have a formal evaluation with their manager every six months to discuss progress to date and your future at KEYENCE. Our managers are committed to frequent and open communication with their teams.

Management opportunities can happen as early as 3 years after joining KEYENCE. We provide internal manager development programs to help our employees transition from an employee into a management position.

About the Recruitment Process

What makes a candidate successful in the recruitment process?

Candidates who are successful in our recruitment process take the proper time to complete each step of the process thoroughly and are true to themselves at each point.

For our candidates and our company, it is in the best interest of both groups to identify if there is a true alignment between the individual and our company before we make a hiring decision. This usually leads to employees who enjoy their position at KEYENCE and are able to grow within our company for a long time.

Can I receive feedback if I do not make it through the recruitment process?

Out of fairness to current and future applicants, we do not provide feedback on why you did not pass in the initial steps of our recruitment process:

We want our interview process to expose you to all the right people to determine if you are good fit for the position and company as well as a chance for you to ask questions and determine if this is the company you want to work for.

What steps are in the recruitment process?

After completing an application form, you will be advised if you have been successful or not in securing an interview.

At KEYENCE, we hire individuals from all degree disciplines.

Due to our extensive training program, we can train any new hire on our technical products regardless of their degree background. For new hires who come to KEYENCE with a technical background, the product knowledge comes more easily. For those who come from a business or other background, the sales aspect comes more easily. Therefore, we provide both technical product knowledge and sales skill training during the classroom and an on-the-job mentorship program.

While we screen for the ability to learn technical concepts in our recruitment process, having a technical background is not a requirement. We have many new hires that do not have a technical background and they are high-performers in our company.

What does a typical week look like?

KEYENCE sales employees spend two days in their local sales office and three days in the field visiting their customers.

Office days provide the opportunity for you to call customers to schedule your appointments for the upcoming week, follow up on projects, information share with territory partners or members from your product line, and a chance for additional training and development.

During your field days you are physically taking your "demo unit" (the product that you sell) to your customers facilities and showing them how our product can be effective in their process. This is our business to business, consultative sales approach that allows us to help solve customers’ problems and improve their business operations!

Are there opportunities to move around to different sales offices or product divisions after I start the job? What about international opportunities?

Where possible, KEYENCE provide opportunities for employees to move around in the organisation whether that be to different office locations or different product lines.

There are many people who choose to live and growth within their role in the same office they started in. However, there are also many employees who move around to different product lines and office locations after they have proven themselves as a high-performers for a period of time in their original role.
