Hints & Tips for HireVue interview
Preparation
Thoroughly read through the job description to acquaint yourself well with the role, day-to-day tasks, etc.
Think about your skills that match with the skills needed for this role, and be able to explain these clearly.
Practice – at the beginning of your interview you will be given a practice section. Use this to familiarise yourself with the HireVue platform and practice interview questions until you feel prepared. Perhaps have someone else watch your practice questions to give tips on how you can improve.
Interview
You will be given one question to answer - “Why are you a good fit for this position?”
You will have up to 3 minutes to record your answer – we suggest you try to use at least 2/3rds of the time given to properly explain your answer.
You will only have one chance to record your answer– always try to finish your answer.
Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, and Result) to give well-rounded examples.
Give examples to demonstrate your skills – not just listing your skills, but giving detailed, real-life examples of times you have used these skills in your past experience.
Relate your skills closely to the job description/daily tasks – in order to show a good understanding and interest in the role you are applying for specifically it is useful to relate your skills back to the position.
Wear interview appropriate clothing – although this is a pre-recorded interview stage we would still recommend wearing professional interview attire as if you were coming in for a face-to-face interview.
Confidence – all of the roles at KEYENCE require high levels of customer/team interaction and presentation skills, so we are looking for candidates who showcase strong confidence and communication skill at this stage.
