As a Medical Writer, my role primarily is focused on building on my familiarity of the pharmaceutical industry and skills gained as an Associate Medical Writer. Under the guidance of senior team members, I develop deliverables for projects. There are a range of project types that a Medical Writer will work on, and thus dictate the type of content development. For example, I could develop an extended detailed report for an advisory meeting or create copy for an invitation promoting a congress symposium. No two days are the same as I work on multiple projects at a time, which have different demands for stakeholder liaison, content development and status meetings.
Junior medical writing roles are perfect for a new graduate wanting to explore the medical communications industry as a potential career. A life sciences background is strongly preferred to comfortably grasp scientific acumen and concepts you will encounter daily, but you will be embedded in specific therapy areas and have countless opportunities to be constantly learning.
