Emily Wood

Senior Design Engineer

What made you apply for Tony Gee?

Tony Gee work on a wide range of projects, many of these with unique engineering challenges. I also liked the fact that Tony Gee is a medium sized company, therefore allowing me to work on nationally strategic, large-scale projects but still not feeling too big and corporate.

How do you feel supported in your daily work and career?

I am well supported, and my colleagues and manager always make time for me, whether that is taking time to explain project work, or in making me feel included in the team. There are ample learning opportunities, and each year I make suggestions on the types of learning that I would like to undertake. I also feel listened to in terms of the types of projects I would like to work on and the direction in which I see my career progressing.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Some of the projects I work on are in the detailed design and construction stage. This is incredibly rewarding as I am able to witness the construction of what I have designed. It is great seeing my tangible contribution to the infrastructure and projects.

What would you consider your most valuable experience to be since working at Tony Gee?

I have been given a lot of room to grow and develop, being trusted with larger projects. I also really enjoy the variety of projects, and the opportunities to visit site.
